How medication works at Ora

A rundown

What your doctor may prescribe

Not every man needs medication. Many plans start with labs, sleep, nutrition and activity, and your doctor adds medication only when it is medically appropriate.

Hormone therapy (TRT)

For men with symptoms of low testosterone and low levels confirmed on at least two early-morning blood tests.

What your doctor may prescribe

  • Testosterone replacementRestores testosterone to a normal range. Usually a weekly injection or a daily cream or gel.
  • Medications that boost your own productionHelp your body make more of its own testosterone. An option for men who want to protect their fertility.
  • Estrogen balanceMedications that keep estrogen in range, used only when your labs show a need.

Good to know

  • Testosterone can lower sperm production. Tell your doctor if you may want children.
  • It can raise your red blood cell count, so your blood count and PSA are checked during treatment.

Hair loss

For men with thinning hair or a receding hairline from male-pattern hair loss.

What your doctor may prescribe

  • DHT blockers (tablet or topical)Lower DHT, the hormone that shrinks hair follicles, to slow or stop hair loss.
  • Hair-growth medications (tablet or topical)Increase blood flow to the follicles to help hair regrow and thicken.
  • Combined treatmentYour doctor may pair a DHT blocker with a hair-growth medication for a stronger effect.

Good to know

  • Results take several months to show. If you stop, hair loss usually returns.
  • DHT blockers can cause sexual side effects in some men, and they lower PSA results, so your doctor accounts for that.

Sexual health

For men with erectile dysfunction or low libido, after your doctor looks for the cause.

What your doctor may prescribe

  • Blood-flow medications (PDE5 inhibitors)Improve blood flow to help you get and keep an erection. Taken as needed or as a low daily dose.
  • Treating the causeWhen low hormones, blood sugar or another medication is behind it, your doctor treats that too.

Good to know

  • These medications are not safe with nitrate heart medications. Your doctor reviews everything you take.
  • Headache and flushing are the most common side effects.

Peptides for weight loss

For men with overweight or obesity, especially when weight is affecting blood sugar, blood pressure or energy.

What your doctor may prescribe

  • GLP-1 family peptidesWeekly peptide medications that reduce appetite and improve blood sugar. Among the best-studied weight-loss treatments.
  • Only well-studied peptidesYour doctor prescribes only peptides backed by solid clinical research, and explains the evidence for any option you ask about.

Good to know

  • Nausea and stomach upset are common, especially when the dose goes up, so the dose is raised slowly.
  • Your doctor pairs medication with nutrition and activity to protect muscle while you lose fat.

GLP-1 medications are not included in the membership and may carry an additional cost.

Treatment is prescribed only if your doctor determines it is medically appropriate. Individual results vary.
